We are constantly looking for ways to better serve our family of patients. With this in mind, we recently purchased the DEXIS CariVu system. It is a compact, portable caries detection device that uses patented transillumination technology to support the identification of decay and cracks particularly between your teeth. By hugging the tooth and bathing it in safe, near-infrared light, CariVu’s transillumination technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous decay traps and absorbs the light. This allows your clinician to see through the tooth, exposing its structure and the presence of any decay with very high accuracy. Along with x-rays, the CariVu system helps us in detecting decay at an early stage, which allows us to remove it before it destroys too much of the tooth structure.
