Tylenol Alert!

Posted on May 8th, 2012

The FDA is lowering the recommended daily dose of Extra Strength Tylenol from 4g to 3g. This change is due to liver damage associated with patients over medicating with Tylenol. Many narcotic preparations, such as Vicodin and Lortab, currently also contain Tylenol. These preparations may be taken off the market as they can result in patients over medicating on Tylenol as patients often take Tylenol in addition to the prescribed narcotics. Most Extra Strength Tylenol is in 500 mg tablets so under the new guidelines patients should take 2 x 500 mg three times a day to get the maximum dose of 3g.
